Names of candidates for membership are placed in nomination by a current member. Election requires a two-thirds majority of votes cast by members.
Criteria For Membership
Members should have demonstrated competence in professional activities within recreational therapy over a considerable period of time.
Included in this would be factors such as:
- quality and quantity of contributions to the literature of the profession
- extensive participation in professional organizations
- acknowledged outstanding performance as a teacher, leader, administrator, practitioner, or researcher in the profession of recreational therapy
Additionally, the individual needs to indicate a willingness to further goals of the National Academy of Recreational Therapy and participate in its affairs. Academy By-Laws define specific membership criteria.
